Stable Lads Boxing is to make a big comeback in Britain to help Racing Welfare, with a bumper whip round!

The event is returning after an absense of seven years. And to give it the sugar-with-lumps, and spice, charismatic former WBC World Welterweight Champion John H Stracey is organising a Championship between the True Brits and the Fighting Irish.

The bouts which will unsurprisingly concentrate on the lower weight categories, and are open to anyone in the racing industry who fancies a ring tear up. The punchline aim is to attract competitors who are confident they can win by a short head, photo finish or even a country mile. The event will come under starters' orders at the world famous Cheltenham Festival in March 2008.

John said "Stable Lads Boxing gives everyone involved in horse racing, the once in a lifetime opportunity to fulfill their ambition of boxing in a safe way in front of an audience and the media.

"All bouts will be regulated under the rules of the European Boxing Federation. Larger gloves and head guards will be used".

Past events have been thrillers, which should provide an incentive to companies and tycoons to turf out the lolly from their wallets to sponsor a fighter, a bout or even the whole competition.
